1/20/09 - Hello All! I know its been awhile since i have posted some news but first i want to wish you all a wonderful 2010! i have alot of cool stuff i am working on this year including putting out an new album! I should start heading to the studio very soon. I am also excited to announce that i have signed with a management company called Sozo Productions (www.sozoproduction.com) and i am very excited to work with that fine team. So keep checking out my web site with new dates, music, and merch! Enjoy yourselves! peace. ~Cheeks 9/1/09 - Cheeks joins "the worlds #1 CAKE tribute band~Yes you heard it correct Cheeks McGee was asked to join and play trumpet for the worlds #1 CAKE tribute band called NUGGET! Cheeks has opened for them on several occasions and this summer while Cheeks was on tour NUGGETs trumpet job opened up and the lead singer for the band called him on the road and asked him to think about playing for them! Cheeks made it official on Sept 1st and has started rehearsing with them but dont worry Cheeks will continue to his solo gigs along with playing with his band around the region. "I kinda landed in a very unique opportunity where i get to play and be a part of this phenomenal band as well as open for them and do my solo show before their shows!" HS in EWING MO!! - I had the unique opportunity to play a concert for my students at Highland last tuesday for their Cougar Day. This was an activity to reward the students for all their hard work through out the year! I appreciate you guys being a wonderful audience and thank you for all the support and for supporting CHEEKS MCGEE MUSIC!! I also wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to all band, guitar, and jazz students and especially my 10 seniors that graduated this year! I thank you for all your hard work this year and hope you all have a great summer!!! 5/15/09 - Cheeks McGee to play another "ROCK AGAINST RAPE" benefit! - Cheeks will travel to Macomb Il tonight (Friday 5/15/09) to play at another "Rock Against Rape" benefit @THE FORUM! Last month Cheeks donated his time to play at the "Rock Against Rape" benefit in Quincy held at BACKWATERS Night Club. Tonights benefit will feature some awesome bands from the Macomb area and Cheeks will kick it off @ 8pm!! We hope you can make it out and support this great event! THIS WEEKENDS SHOWS Friday (5/15/09) The Forum Macomb IL 8pm Saturday (5/16/09) Jeds Brewhouse - [party for the QU graduates] Quincy IL FREE 1-3pm Sunday (5/17/09) Private Party Quincy IL 4-6pm 5/4/09 - HILLSTOCK 09 a huge success! - I just wanted to say thank you to Culver-Stockton College, Brent Hickenbottom, CPC, and all the bands and people that attended this years HillStock and made it a huge succeess! We had a beautiful day and the line up was stellar! Also thanks to Jessica Martin with the Quincy Herold Whig for her help with promotion! Thank you to all the people that we met along the way and all the new friends we met as well as the people that came out to the shows! Cheeks had an unbelievable time and cant wait to get on the road again for his summer to tour to visit your cities again!! For those of you that havent done so yet......please go to Cheeks myspace and check out his new song he posted. It is a unique arrangement of "Amazing Grace" he composed for his grandmother that passed away last week. She was a huge influence on his life musically and was a big fan of his trumpet and HUGE Cheeks McGee fan. She was a great lady and will greatly be missed. "Amazing Grace" was one of her favorite songs and this arrangement is for her and we hope you enjoy as well! THIS WEEKS SHOWS - Friday April 17th Cheeks will be playing at BACKWATERS in Quincy for a benefit for Quanata. All proceeds will go to Quanata which is an organization that provides emotional, physical, and crisis support for those who have been battered or abused. Also playing that night will be other great local bands Fielder, The Blue Healers, and The Funions. Then on Sunday come join us for a day of music at the SOUTH SIDE BOAT JAM hosted by the South Side Boat Club which will feature the areas finest local music. The music starts at noon and will go until 8pm. Cheeks is scheduled for a 2pm performance time. We hope that you can come out and see some of the areas great local music. The Cheeks McGee Promotion Team 3/25/09 - Shows this week! - Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Culver-Stockton College for a great turnout at last nights show! I appreciate all of you showing up and checking out the show!! I will see you guys on May 2nd for the 10th anniversary of HILLSTOCK!! This friday March 27th - I will be back at SPIRIT KNOB WINERY for their monthly WINEdown!! I would love to see you there!! 3/18/09 - SHOW TONIGHT, Tomorrow, and Saturday! - Cheeks is playing at QUINCY UNIVERSITY tonight (wednesday March 18) in their "Hawks Nest" to help out QU's environmental club. This is an all ages show and it is open to the public. The show starts at 9pm and i believe it will be a few dollar cover charge. Look forward to seeing you there. Thursday March 19th - Paradise bar (10th and Hampshire) in Quincy IL from 8-11pm (this is the show that was rescheduled f last week) the show is free! Saturday March 21st - Another free show @ Jeds Brew House. Cheeks will start at 9pm! 2/24/09 - Cheeks McGee on the road this weekend! - This saturday Cheeks will be traveling to the Springfield IL area to play at the SHAMBOLEE Golf Club located in Petersburg, IL. This event is open to the public and the show will be held on Saturday Feb 28th at 8pm. So if your in the Springfield area come on out and enjoy a night of music with Cheeks McGee! 2/3/09 - Lots of February shows! - Hello all its been a few weeks since Cheeks last live show due to him being gone on a business trip attending a Jazz Educators conference but he will be back in action this FRIDAY (FEB 6th) at the SPORTSMAN's CLUB in Mt. Sterling IL. This is a very unique place with one side being a wine bar and the other being a regular bar and Cheeks will be there from 7-10pm for your listening pleasure. It will also be a special night for Cheeks as well because he will be celebrating his birthday!! So come on out and have a cocktail or two at the Sportsmans Club on friday night and celebrate! Also dont forget next week is a HUGE week for Cheeks. On wednesday Feb 11 he will be opening for NUGGET (The worlds #1 Cake tribute band) at the FORUM in Macomb IL. Then on Thursday night Feb 12 he will be back in Quincy playing his monthly gig at the always popular Jed's Brewhouse! Quincy University likes to frequent this bar on nights Cheeks plays so it should be a packed house!! Then on Valentines evening saturday Feb 14th he will be playing an intimate set at BRIX WINE BAR 1/14/09 - Cheeks to play big show at The Cafe! - Mr. McGee will be playing a 4 hour set at the Cafe in Macomb IL this friday (jan 16th) The show will begin around 10pm and the cover is $3! We hope that you can stop by and enjoy an evening of music with the always entertaining Cheeks McGee! 12/18/08 - Cheeks McGee has a day job? - To all of you that didn't know.... besides traveling the country and playing live shows YES Cheeks McGee actually teaches music at a HS in Missouri!! This is his 6th year as a teacher and is currently the Director of Instrumental Music and Jazz studies at a local HS in Missouri. Recently his marching band has been selected along with 13 other bands across the nation to perform at the halftime show of the AUTOZONE LIBERTY BOWL in Memphis TN on Jan 2nd! They will be performing with country music star SARA EVANS!!! This is a huge honor and we want to wish him well on this unique opportunity! So thank you!! Anyway just letting you know about some shows this week!! Wednesday night i travel to Germantown, WI and play at the wonderful KLAVIER LOUNGE! It is a beautiful place with wonderful people so if you are in the area please come on out...ITS LADIES NIGHT THERE!! woo music starts at 8pm! Then Thursday enjoy your turkey day. Friday i will be back in URSA, IL playing at the monthly WINEdown at SPIRIT KNOB WINERY!!! Music starts at 7pm. Saturday i then travel to Taylorville IL and play at BAILEYS and will be opening for a great band called SUPER MARIO SPEEDWAGON!! It is always a good time and we usually have a packed house! Music will start at 9pm! Happy thanksgiving and be safe this week on your travels!! ~Cheeks 11/18/08 - Multiple shows this week!! - Tonight (tues) Cheeks will be playing in Canton, MO playing a live show downtown at the JAVA SHACK! This event is sponsored by Culver-Stockton College. The show starts at 7pm!! Then on wednesday night Cheeks will travel to Taylorville, IL and play a show at BAILEYS. His opening act is going to be an open mic so if you are in the area and want to open up for Cheeks McGee then show up to Baileys around 7pm!! Saturday Cheeks will be back in Quincy and play at BRIX Wine Bar on 4th street in downtown Quincy! It has been a while since he has played here but there is usually a pretty good crowd at BRIX!! Show starts at 8pm!! Hope to see you at some shows this week!! 11/11/08 - Big weekend for Cheeks McGee! - Cheeks will be playing 3 shows this weekend starting on Thursday night at a local favorite bar JED's BREWHOUSE! Show starts at 9pm!! Then Friday Cheeks will travel to WISCONSIN to play a show at a new bar/ piano lounge called the Klavier Lounge in Germantown WI (which is a suburb of Milwaukee) That show will begin at 7pm and will be full of wine music and cocktails!! Then on saturday night Cheeks will travel to MACOMB IL and again open up for the always fun band...NUGGET (a cake tribute band) at The Cafe. The show starts at 10pm!! We hope to see you at a show this weekend!! 11/5/08 - Friday evening show in Mt. Sterling, IL - Cheeks will head to Sportsman's Club in Mt. Sterling, IL on Friday (Nov. 7th)!! He will start playing at 6pm so when you get off work you can come out for some drinks and LIVE music!!! Hope to see you there! 11/4/08 - TODAY we can change the world!!! PLEASE VOTE!! - Hey guys just wanted to give a quick shout out about the election. I know everyone has their opinions and views on which candidate will be best for our country, as do I. Im not going to tell you who to vote for or who i want you to vote for all i ask is that you get out and exercise your right to vote and together we can change the world. Have a great day. ~Cheeks McGee  10/28/08 - HALLOWEEN SHOW @ Spirit Knob Winery - This saturday (Nov. 1st) Cheeks will be playing at Spirit Knob Winery for their HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY!! Music will start at 7pm and their will be a $5 cover charge! Make sure to wear a COSTUME!!! It is going to be a great time and you dont want to miss CHEEKS McGEE's costume!!! 10/21/08 - Big show this saturday at North Side Boat club = RUSS-A-PALOOZA! This saturday Russ Sparrow is throwing one of his HUGE parties at N.S.B.C. and Cheeks McGee will be one of the musical acts playing that evening. Other bands are to be announced later this week! The cover is $5 to get in and i believe he will have food there as well! More details to come!! 10/14/08 - Cheeks to play TWO shows this weekend: Taylorville (sat) and Spirit Knob (sun) - This saturday October 18th Cheeks will head to Taylorville, IL and play a show at Baileys downtown. The show will start around 8pm. Then Sunday he will make his way back to Ursa, Il and play for Spirit Knob's Octoberfest. He will start around 1pm! We hope to see you at a show this weekend 10/9/08 - SHOW TONIGHT @ Jeds Brewhouse in Quincy IL- Cheeks will be playing his monthly show at Jeds tonight! The show starts at 9pm and there will be plenty of drink specials!! Hope to see you there!! 9/27/08 - Cheeks to play at Great River Grape Escape TOMORROW!! - Here is a last minute update that Cheeks will play at the Grape Escape tomorrow (sunday) from 1-4pm. It will be held at 16th and Maine at the Womens City Center in Quincy IL. Lots of great wineries from around the area will be there too! 9/23/08 - Cheeks McGee to open for NUGGET in Macomb, IL! - On friday October 3rd Cheeks will return to Macomb IL and open for NUGGET (a Cake tribute band) at The Cafe. The show starts around 10pm. We expect this to be a great evening because its always a good time when the WIU students are in attendance!! Show starts at 8pm! 9/2/08 - Cheeks McGee to open up for Alex Winston @ Culver-Stockton College! - this saturday September 6th Cheeks will be returning to his alma mater to perform a live show opening up for the talented Alex Winston. The show will be an outdoor event and the show starts at 8pm! 8/24/08 - Cheeks will return playing at SPIRIT KNOB WINERYs monthly WINEDOWN - Spirit Knob Winery in Ursa IL hosts a monthly WINEDOWN that happens the last friday of every month. Cheeks McGee had to take a short break from playing the WINEDOWNS due to his summer tour but will resume this FRIDAY August 29 from 7-10pm!! Great wine and music! Hope to see you there! 8/16/08 - Cheeks to play at WAIDESTOCK!! - Cheeks McGee will be playing at the 3rd annual Waidestock at Petersburg IL! This is an all day festival and Cheeks is the featured artist!! 8/8/08 - Cheeks McGee will be performing his unique solo show at the Q-TOWN FREEDOM FESTIVAL on saturday August 9th on the campus of Quincy University. He has invited special guest Keith Franx to join him on stage for a few tunes!! Dont miss this event we hope to see you there!! 7/31/08 - Cheeks McGee will be performing at FLOOD FEST 08 at around 8pm and this will be his first performance in Quincy since he has returned from tour!!! We hope to see you there! 7/25/08 - Cheeks McGee just finished up his NATIONWIDE summer tour hitting 27 states on his journey and playing over 30 shows! 7/25/08 - Cheeks McGee to perform at the Buffalo Wild Wings Flood Relief concert set for August 2nd..time tba! 7/25/08 - The 5th annual CHEEKS & FRIENDS FREEDOM FESTIVAL in the works and rumors of combing with another festival this year.
